The family of Celeste Rivas Hernandez is speaking publicly for the first time after D4vd was charged in the 14-year-old’s death.

In a statement released Tuesday, Celeste’s relatives thanked investigators and the community that supported them throughout the months-long case.

“We would like to thank the Los Angeles Police Department and the District Attorney’s Office for their hard work,” the family said. “We would also like to thank the people of Lake Elsinore for all their support.”

The family also shared memories of Celeste, describing the teen as someone who loved spending time with the people closest to her.

“Celeste was a beautiful, strong girl who loved to sing and dance,” they said. “Every Friday night was movie night and we spent wonderful times together.”

The statement came one day after D4vd, whose legal name is David Burke, appeared in court and pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder and other charges. Prosecutors allege Burke killed Celeste in April 2025 after she threatened to expose their alleged relationship.

According to Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman, the singer then dismembered her body and left her remains inside his Tesla, where they were discovered months later.

“We love her very much and she always told us that she loved us,” Celeste’s family said. “We miss her deeply. All we want is justice for Celeste.”
