The couple dated for nine months before their abrupt split, and at the time, it was reported that the comedian checked himself into a wellness clinic to recover.
“Nothing bad happened between him and Madelyn [Cline],” an insider told PEOPLE. It just ran its course. He and Kim still talk occasionally. He’s a good guy, and they root for him.”
Last year, an insider revealed that the star regularly checks himself into rehab.
“Pete regularly goes to rehab for ‘tune ups’ and to take a mental break, so that’s what’s happening,” a source told Page Six last year. “Anyone who knows Pete knows that he will always step up and get help when he knows he needs it. He has a lot of people in his corner who love him and support him, and are proud of him.”
