Tennis star Naomi Osaka and rapper Cordae are officially over, Media Take Out has learned. And we’re hearing that Cordae broke things off with the tennis star because she was “too needy.”
The 24-year-old Cordae has been frequently spotted at Naomi’s matches, most prominently at the 2020 US Open where she won her third Grand Slam title.
Rumors of a breakup between the young celebrity couple began last week, after Naomi Osaka took to social media and a left rather cryptic message, causing fans to speculate.
The 4-time Grand Slam champion tweeted about “not trusting” men who constantly have to declare that they are “a good guy.” The tweet has since been deleted.
Since that post, Media Take Out has confirmed that the Japanese tennis star unfollowed Cordae on her Twitter and Instagram handles following the message, and deleted all pics of the couple from her social media accounts.
We reached out to a person who is associated with Cordae and asked them what they think happened between the two. The insider told Media Take Out that he’s not surprised about the possible breakup. “Cordae was complaining that she’s too needy,” the tipster let spill.
The tennis pro and the Grammy-nominated rapper began dating in 2019, with their first date being at an L.A. Clippers game.
At the time, Cordae didn’t know that his date was a tennis star, telling GQ, “If you asked me about tennis, before being immersed in it because of Naomi, I could only give you Venus and Serena Williams, you know? Because they’re just a part of the culture.”
Naomi is currently preparing to play at the US Open in a few weeks.
