Federal prosecutors claim that Marvavier, a Georgia real estate agent sent text messages asking for $250,000.

The athlete worked with the FBI to set up a sting operation, per the complaint.

Between June and July, after real estate agent Marvavier Rian Hurts and the athlete, whose identity is protected, had romantic liaisons in a hotel where Hurts recorded him without permission, federal prosecutors alleged.

For months, Marvavier pressured the athlete to send him $250,000 in order to protect information about his gay history and block the release of the tape, promising to sign a nondisclosure agreement in return — until the athlete worked with the FBI to devise a plan to track Hurts down, per the complaint.

According to the federal documents, the athlete is from West Harrison, NY – just a few miles from where the NY Knicks practice facility is located.

On July 27, Marvavier was arrested in Georgia, per court records, and was indicted on the charges by a federal grand jury on August 2.
