Diageo, the French company behind the luxury vodka brand Ciroc is looking for a new leading brand ambassador – and the number one person on their list is rapper and entertainment mogul Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson.
From 2007 the marketing and promotion for Cîroc in the United States was in conjunction with rapper Sean Combs in an “equal-share venture” with profits from the brand being split between Combs and Diageo. But that deal was terminated last year, after a legal dispute.
Now the company is looking for someo e to replace Diddy, and their top choice is his rival 50 Cent.
Media Take Out spoke with a high level exec at the company who explained, “Back in 2007, 50 Cent was our initial top choice as brand ambassador. But Diddy came in and stole the deal away. Many in the company always thought that 50 would be the better fit.”
Now that the company is Diddy-less, they’re putting together a plan to lure 50 Cent into a deal, which could mean up to $100M a year for the rapper turned Hollywood producer.
The insider continued, “50 promotes the brands he’s with in every way. Look at his tweets of IG posts, they always end with the companies he’s promoting.”
By contrast, Diddy was not big on promoting any brand, other than himself. The executive said, ‘To get Diddy to promote was like pulling teeth. 50 Cent is really the perfect partner.”
But the deal isn’t going to be easy to pull off. 50 already has a liquor company he owns, Branson Cognac.
The executive continued, “We’re going to have to work to get it done.”
If you thought Diddy didn’t like 50 Cent before … it’s about to get even worse.
