Rapper Lil Durk is one of the biggest hip hop stars in the world – but he may soon end up in prison. Media Take Out spoke to two people close to the rapper who tell us that Durk’s legal team is battening down the hatches, as they prepare for a possible criminal indictment against the rapper.

Lil Durk

Fulton County’s top prosecutor Fani Willis is making a name for herself by indicting hip hop stars, and alleging that they are the leaders of criminal organizations. Her office has already indicted two top rappers, Young Thug and Gunna, and charged them under the Georgia RICO statute. Each rapper Is currently in jail with no bail, and faces 20+ years in prison.

Now, Media Take Out learned that Durk’s lawyers are warning him that he is LIKELY THE NEXT TARGET OF THE AGGRESSIVE PROSECUTOR.

Fani spoke out recently, and told the media to expect 2 more RICO cases in Atlanta in the next 60 days. Durk and his girlfriend India both live in Fulton County.

One person close to Durk’s team spoke to Media Take Out, and explained what the Chicago rapper’s legal team has told him. The insider explained, “Durk’s lawyers say that Georgia prosecutors have arrested people [associated with Durk’s label] OTF and are offering them deals to flip on Durk.”

The insider continued, “It’s only a matter of time before someone [flips] and accepts a deal to implicate Durk.”

Another person close to the rapper’s camp tells Media Take Out that Durk is 100% innocent, and any indictment against him “is lies.” This insider told us, “They’re trying to link Durk to a gang. He’s not with a gang. OTF is a label not a gang.”

And we’re told that Durk’s team is not sitting back and waiting for the indictment. The legal team has beefed up its staff, and is preparing for an all out war with the prosecutor – if an indictment comes down.

And Durk appears to be taking action too. Media Take Out confirmed that Durk shut down his Instagram page over the weekend, and deleted all past posts – which could link him to anyone being watched by Georgia prosecutors. His Instagram page had tens of millions of followers, and was instrumental to pushing the rapper’s music.

Durk left this ominous message to fans before he shut it down however, saying he was “taking a break.”:

For those wondering, what is a RICO. Well Media Take out did some digging and check out the below explanation.

The RICO case was invented as a way to catch mob bosses. The problem with catching mob bosses was that they stayed so far away from the crime that there was nothing they could be charged with. They didn’t go break that guys leg and extort him, some low level guy did and he was willing to do 5 years and not say shit.

A RICO works well against criminal organizations and particularly rappers because you don’t need to have committed a actual physical crime to be charged with it. All prosecutors need to do is prove that you were A) a member of a criminal organization B) committed at least two minor crimes at some point to further that criminal organizations goals, then they can charge you with every crime everyone is charged with. Those minor crimes, in the case of a rapper, usually consist of “funding” illegal operations – i.e., giving known gang members money.

So say a certain gang is being monitored by the authorities. After some time prosecutors gather evidence to arrest one guy on drug charges, one guy on murder, one guy on extortion, and so on and so fourth. They can charge ANY MEMBER OF THE GANG, including any rapper associated with the gang, with essentially every crime through the charge of “racketeering”.

It’s a whole bunch of legal mumbo jumbo – with questionable Constitutionality – but this is the gist of it in the simplest of terms.
