Erica Mena is speaking out amid her ongoing legal dispute with ex-husband Safaree Samuels, sharing a candid message about finances, parenting and standing her ground.
The former Love & Hip Hop star reflected on years of strain following the end of her marriage to Safaree Samuels, whom she married in October 2019. The pair welcomed two children in 2020 and 2021 before Erica filed for divorce in May 2021, citing an irretrievably broken marriage.
The couple’s divorce was finalized in September 2022, with Safaree ordered to pay $4,305 per month in child support.
In a recent Instagram post, Erica Mena suggested that a long-running financial burden may finally be coming to an end after a victory in court.
“For two and a half years and counting, I’ve endured malicious filings, unnecessary legal attacks and intentional financial pressure,” she wrote, adding that she has been the only consistent parent handling medical care, education and daily expenses.
“Yesterday wasn’t about revenge,” she continued. “It was about receipts, facts and accountability.” Erica went on to say that that her request for shared financial responsibility is reasonable, writing, “Asking for half is not asking for too much.”
She also praised her attorney, calling her representation principled and precise, and made her priorities clear. “I’ve been choosing peace,” she wrote, “but I will never choose silence when it comes to my children.”
