Erica Campbell’s label is alleging that more than 113 million streams came in, but no royalty statements ever followed.
My Block Records is suing former distributor SRG/ILS Group for more than $1 million, alleging the company failed to account for music released under their agreement properly.
My Block filed the lawsuit on September 17 in New York federal court, and the label was founded by Campbell’s husband, producer Warryn Campbell.
The complaint centers on three albums: Lena Byrd Miles’ “Brand New,” The Walls Group’s “Four Walls” and Campbell’s “I Love You.”
“To date, SRG has not provided Block with any royalty statements relating to the release of the album ‘I Love You,’” the filing says.
My Block claims the three projects collectively topped 113 million streams between 2022 and 2024 and generated more than $1 million in sales.
Campbell’s album was a major release for the label. “I Love You” earned a Grammy nomination for Best Gospel Album, while “Feel Alright (Blessed)” earned a nomination for Best Gospel Performance/Song.
The lawsuit also accuses SRG of failing to spend agreed marketing funds and not providing receipts for those expenses.
SRG told Billboard it made “repeated efforts” to resolve accounting, payments, and the transition of masters after the deal ended. SRG also said it has extensive records of those communications and believes they will add “important context” to the case.
My Block is asking for damages exceeding $1 million, plus interest and legal costs.
