New York City Mayor Eric Adams has withdrawn from the race for reelection after depleting his campaign funds.
“Despite all we’ve achieved, I cannot continue my reelection campaign,” Adams said in a lengthy video posted to X. “The constant media speculation about my future and the campaign finance board’s decision to withhold millions of dollars have undermined my ability to raise the funds needed for a serious campaign.”
Only in America. Only in New York.

In his announcement video, Adams highlighted his record of lowering crime, expanding affordable housing, and driving economic recovery during his tenure.
Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani is considered the frontrunner for the race.
Mamdani responded to the news by stating that in November, voters will “turn the page on the politics of big money and small ideas.”
“Donald Trump and his billionaire donors might be able to determine Eric Adams and Andrew Cuomo’s actions but they will not dictate the results of this election,” Mamdani wrote in a statement.
