Elon Musk made history by becoming the first person in history to lose $200 billion. The Tesla owner is now worth just $137 billion after Tesla shares fell.
According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, he was worth $340 billion on November 4, 2021, and he remained the world’s richest person until his wealth was eclipsed. Some say his declining popularity since his Twitter takeover could be to blame.
On Twitter,, Musk didn’t acknowledge Tesla’s plummeting shares. Tesla is currently offering a $7,500 discount for its Model 3 and Model Y vehicles.
“Tesla is executing better than ever!” Musk tweeted on December 16. “We don’t control the Federal Reserve. That is the real problem here.”
Last month, Musk announced he would step down as CEO of Twitter as soon as he finds a replacement.
“I will resign as CEO as soon as I find someone foolish enough to take the job! After that, I will just run the software & servers teams,” he tweeted.
