Journalist Elliott Wilson slammed “Million Dollar Baby” artist Tommy Richman for claiming that he is not a part of Hip Hop but submitting his hit single for several GRAMMY Awards.

“I’m not a hip hop artist,” Richman tweeted weeks back.

“Million Dollar Baby” has been submitted for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance at the 2025 Grammy Awards.

Wilson says he congratulated Richman when his single first rocketed up the charts, but after seeing his tweets, he feels differently.

“He took this bold stance of not putting the records on his album and it didn’t work. The sales weren’t great because you didn’t put your slaps on the album,” he said.

Coyote only managed to rack up 4,300 copies units in it’s first week per Billboard. The album did not chart on the Billboard Hot 100.

“The album should’ve started with f-cking ‘Million Dollar Baby’ and ‘Devil is a Lie’ as muthaf-cking track two … that’s how I have it on my playlist. There are eight other songs that I like on the album. I made my own version of Coyote but they ain’t slaps like the other first two songs. And then you’re gonna succumb to the pressure when it’s time to get your ‘recognition.’ And the Hip Hop award goes to… a n-gga that don’t wanna be Hip Hop. It’s like, ‘What are we doing? That makes no sense.’”

Now it seems Richman is crawling back to the culture that made him hot by nominating the popular track.

“Everybody wants to be genre-less. We all want world peace; that’s not our muthaf-cking reality. F-ck your genre-less ass. It sounds good in theory: ‘I’m non-genre.’ F-ck outta here. You’re Hip Hop!” Wilson added.
