Wedding bells are ringing in Hollywood—quietly! Eric Murphy, son of comedy legend Eddie Murphy, and Jasmin Lawrence, daughter of fellow funny man Martin Lawrence, just tied the knot. Yep, the two famous families are now officially linked by marriage!
Eddie Murphy spilled the tea during a recent appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, casually letting it drop that the couple said “I do” two weeks ago in an intimate, private ceremony.
“They went off… Everybody was making the big wedding plans, and they decided they wanted to do something quiet with just the two of them,” Murphy told Hudson.
A cozy church, just the bride, the groom, and the preacher—talk about low-key goals! While the rest of us were expecting a lavish, star-studded event (imagine the guest list), Eric and Jasmin kept it sweet, simple, and full of love.
Of course, this means Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence—who’ve worked together on iconic films like Boomerangand Life—are now officially in-laws. “Yeah, we’re in-laws,” Murphy confirmed with a smile. “And he doesn’t have to pay for that big wedding now.” A reference to a playful back-and-forth between the two comedy kings.
ICYMI, back in December 2024, Martin joked on Big Boy’s Neighborhood that Eddie had volunteered him to foot the bill for the wedding. “He said I gotta pay for it, ‘cause he paid for his last daughter’s wedding — like the last six weddings — but he said it’s my turn now,” Lawrence laughed.
Welp, looks like neither of them had to worry about breaking the bank. Instead of a Hollywood extravaganza, Eric and Jasmin chose love over luxury and skipped the stress.
But don’t worry, there’s still a party in the works! While the newlyweds skipped the big ceremony, Murphy teased a celebration might still be coming. “I think we’ll have like a big party or something,” he said.
And will Eddie sing at the bash? Hudson tried to get a confirmation, but the Party All the Time singer joked he might do a duet with Martin instead. If that happens, someone please livestream it.
Eric and Jasmin have been dating since 2021 and announced their engagement in November 2024. Fans have loved watching their relationship grow—especially since it’s a rare Hollywood love story that feels so grounded. They’ve kept things mostly private but always looked glowing and happy when sharing little glimpses into their life together.
So here’s to the bride and groom! Quiet ceremony or not, their union is one for the pop culture history books. Two comedy icons now share grandbabies (someday?) and in-law status, and we’re so here for it.
We’re guessing the family dinners are going to be hilarious. And when that big celebration finally happens? It’s going to be legendary.
Congrats to Eric and Jasmin—love clearly runs in the family!
