Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show is still sparking debate days later, and now radio host Ebro Darden is weighing in with strong words for fellow rapper Ma$e.
During a recent episode of his talk show, Ebro said he tuned out after hearing Ma$e give the performance a low score.
“I didn’t even finish watching what Mase had to say,” he admitted. “You gave it a four out of 10? Come on.” Ebro questioned why critics seemed to miss the cultural impact of the moment, adding, “The experience of Puerto Ricans is the experience of every oppressed minority in this country.”
Ma$e had shared his take earlier on his own show, saying, “I can think of several artists that could’ve done a better job,” before suggesting Chris Brown deserved the slot. Brown later added to the backlash by posting that the NFL needs him on the Super Bowl stage.
Despite criticism from several corners, Bad Bunny’s set ranked among the most-watched halftime shows ever, pulling in massive viewership and global attention. Even political commentary followed, with Donald Trump criticizing the Spanish performance online and some GOP members calling for an investigation into the performance.
Ebro summed it up simply. “This wasn’t about who wished it was them. It was about representation, and it landed.”
