Donald Trump lashed out after being arraigned in Manhattan yesterday. Trump is charged with 34 felony counts of falsifying business records under Article 175 of the New York Penal Law.
Prosecutors claim that Trump is guilty of maintaining false business records with the intent to hide a $130,000 payment in the days before the 2016 election to adult film actress Stormy Daniels to cover up an alleged tryst that took place in 2006.
“I never thought anything like this could happen in America,” Trump said from his Florida home, Mar-a-Lago. “The only crime I’ve committed is to fearlessly defend our nation from those who seek to destroy it.”
Reports say that Trump was offered the opportunity to be arraigned at his Florida home. He declined and chose to travel to New York.
Trump lashed out at District Attorney Alvin Bragg.
“I know the reporter and so, unfortunately, does he. This means that he MUST BE IMMEDIATELY INDICTED. Now, if he wants to really clean up his reputation, he will do the honorable thing and, as District Attorney, INDICT HIMSELF,” Trump said.
“D.A. BRAGG JUST ILLEGALLY LEAKED THE 33 points of Indictment. There are no changes or surprises from those he leaked days ago directly out of the Grand Jury. No Crime by Trump. What a MESS. Bragg should resign, NOW!” he wrote on Truth Social.
