CNN anchor Don Lemon apologized for remarks he made about women over a certain age not being “in their prime.”
“I’m sorry that I said it,” Lemon said per CNN. “And I certainly see why people found it completely misguided. When I make a mistake, I own it. And I own this one as well.”
Lemon made the comments on “CNN This Morning” during a discussion about South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, who is currently running as a Republican candidate for president against Donald Trump.
Lemon said that a woman is only “considered to be in their prime in 20s and 30s and maybe 40s.”
Nikki Haley is 51. Don Lemon is 56.
Lemon said on air: “If you Google, ‘when is a woman in her prime,’ it’ll say 20s, 30s, and 40s. … I’m not saying I agree with that so I think she has to be careful about saying that (politicians aren’t in their prime).”
