DJ Akademiks says Ray J should “lawyer up and shut up” after the singer took aim at him over allegations connected to a Brand Risk fight.
The back-and-forth went down after Akademiks played a clip of Ray J insulting him and questioning his journalism.
In the clip, Ray J said, “Here’s what I want to say to Akademiks. You was a ho, ho.” Ray J continued, “I think that your journalism is starting to go. You’re losing yourself.”
Akademiks appeared surprised by the diss before directly addressing Ray J on his livestream.
“A poor little Ray J,” he said in response. “Ray, brother, I don’t want to go back and forth with you.”
The streamer said Ray J was upset because Akademiks had discussed claims that Ray J tried to rig a Brand Risk fight. Akademiks repeatedly said he was not involved and claimed he was warning Ray J about possible legal repercussions.
“I have nothing to do with this,” Akademiks continued. “What I’m telling you though is essentially you committed a crime,” claiming that information about the alleged fight scheme had already been shared with others involved. “There’s text proof with you and the [expletive] setting up the fight,” he said. “What you tried to do could be the subject of a federal, not only investigation, but an arrest.”
He also denied that he was privately helping Ray J handle the matter.
“We’re not cool. We’re not buddies,” Akademiks said. “I’m not hitting you about a crime.”
