DJ Akademiks is speaking out after a private message exchange with influencer Ari Fletcher became a topic of conversation online.
During a recent livestream, the media personality claimed Ari sent him messages warning that she had information about him and suggesting legal action could follow. Akademiks told viewers he did not take the claims seriously and questioned the situation during the broadcast.
“She was in my DMs saying, ‘I know some stuff about you too,’” Akademiks said while reacting to the messages. “When somebody tells you online that you’re getting sued, you’re not getting sued.”
Ak then went on to argue that legal disputes usually unfold differently from threats shared in social media messages.
“You don’t get told in DMs,” he said. “You just get served.”
Akademiks also joked about Ari’s claim that she had already contacted a lawyer, saying he doubted certain details about the timing.
“I pay lawyers, too,” he said. “But you can’t just wire money like that on a Saturday.”
Despite the back and forth, Akademiks told viewers he does not have a serious issue with Ari.
“I don’t got no issue,” he said. “I’ve been trying to chill.”
Ari has not publicly responded to the comments at the time of publication.
