Sean “Diddy” Combs’ attorney has issued a statement after a judge awarded a Detroit inmate a $100 million default judgment this week.
Derrick Cardello-Smith, 51, claimed in the lawsuit that he was drugged and sexually assaulted Cardello-Smith in 1997 at a party in Detroit, according to the Detroit Metro Times.
Prior to the judgment, he was granted a temporary restraining order against Diddy.
The default judgment was awarded because Diddy failed to appear for the Sept. 9 virtual hearing.
“This man is a convicted felon and sexual predator, who has been sentenced on 14 counts of sexual assault and kidnapping over the last 26 years,” Marc Agnifilo, attorney for Sean Diddy Combs, told CBS News. “His resume now includes committing a fraud on the court from prison, as Mr. Combs has never heard of him let alone been served with any lawsuit. Mr. Combs looks forward to having this judgment swiftly dismissed.”
Cardello-Smith’s criminal record includes several convictions for criminal sexual conduct and kidnapping.
