Yella Beezy was named in court Wednesday as an alleged financial backer of the 2020 killing of Mo3, with a Dallas detective telling jurors that Beezy and Trapboy Freddy were believed to have paid for the rapper’s death.
The testimony came during the capital murder trial of Kewon White, who prosecutors say was the gunman in the deadly shooting on Dallas’ I-35.
“They’re the individuals that made payments for Mo3’s death,” Detective Eric Barnes testified, referring to Beezy and DaVarius “Trapboy Freddy” Moore.
Prosecutors then introduced financial records showing Beezy withdrew $40,000 in cash on Nov. 20, 2020. The withdrawal came just over a week after Mo3 was killed and shortly after Beezy returned from California.

Barnes said investigators believe Freddy also contributed money, though he testified that authorities have no financial records documenting a payment from him.
The government alleges Beezy later met with Freddy and Jerry Johnson, an alleged middleman, as part of the payment process. Prosecutors also presented a text message they say referenced that meetup.
During opening statements, prosecutors alleged White was paid $20,000 to carry out the shooting.

Beezy, White and Devin Brown are all charged with capital murder in connection with Mo3’s death.
Beezy’s case is expected to go to trial separately. He has been accused of arranging the killing after a long-standing feud with Mo3.
