A new date has been set for the retrial of rapper YNW Melly who is accused of the murders of two of his close friends.
Judge Martin Fein set a new trial date of September 10, 2025.
The judge also set a pretrial meeting for December 5, 2024 in his witness tampering case.
YNW Melly is accused of two counts of first-degree murder in the killings of Christopher “YNW Juvy” Thomas and Anthony “YNW Sakchaser” Williams in Miramar in 2018, and then conspiring to make it look like a drive-by shooting. YNW Bortlen is also facing trial.

In October, Florida prosecutors charged the rapper with witness tampering by trying to prevent a key witness from testifying at his first murder trial. Prosecutors allege that Melly, allegedly a member of the Bloods street gang, did it through phone calls made by other jail inmates at his request and letters passed between them to get messages to Blood members on the streets.
According to an arrest warrant, he “along with others,” engaged in “misleading conduct toward another person with the intent to cause or induce (that person) to withhold testimony” during Melly’s first trial, which ended in a mistrial. The witness did not end up testifying.
