D4vd Court Hearing Delayed Again in Celeste Rivas Murder Case

Lyndon Abioye |

D4vd’s next major court hearing has been delayed again as his lawyers prepare to fight charges tied to the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez.

The 21-year-old singer, born David Anthony Burke, appeared in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Wednesday, where Judge Charlaine F. Olmedo granted a defense request to postpone his probable cause hearing. The hearing, previously scheduled for June 29, is now set for July 21, with a status conference on July 7.

Burke, wearing an orange jail uniform and waist shackles, spoke only briefly. “Thank you, your honor,” he said before deputies led him away.

The musician has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder, continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14, and unlawful mutilation of human remains. Prosecutors have also filed special circumstance allegations of murder of a witness, murder for financial gain, and lying in wait. The judge said she found “good cause” for the delay after reviewing a sealed declaration from Burke’s defense.

Rivas’ remains were discovered in a Tesla registered to Burke after it was towed and impounded in September 2025. Prosecutors allege Burke killed Rivas after she came to his Hollywood Hills rental home and later tried to conceal her body.

The probable cause hearing is expected to include several witnesses.
