D4vd has denied allegations outlined in a court filing that includes details about items prosecutors say he purchased after the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez.
According to the filing, investigators traced online orders that included two chainsaws, among other items. Prosecutors allege these purchases are significant to their case and part of the timeline they are presenting in court.
The document also references additional materials and digital records, including messages and surveillance footage, which authorities say support their claims.
D4vd has pleaded not guilty to the charges. His legal team stated they “will vigorously defend David’s innocence” and said they expect “the evidence will show that David did not kill Celeste.”
“Let us be clear – the actual evidence in this case will show that David Burke did not murder Celeste Rivas Hernandez and he was not the cause of her death,” his attorney’s statement read.
They added, “There has been no indictment returned by any grand jury in this case and no criminal complaint filed. David has only been detained under suspicion. We will vigorously defend David’s innocence.”
During a recent hearing, attorneys debated releasing the filing, with concerns raised about public attention to the case. A judge ultimately allowed the document to be made public while keeping certain details sealed.
The case remains ongoing, with another court date expected next month.
