Could Wendy & Eddie Osefo Be Deported To Nigeria Over Fraud Charges?

Lyndon Abioye |

Real Housewives of Potomac star Wendy Osefo and her husband, Eddie Osefo, are planning their legal defense after each being hit with more than a dozen fraud charges stemming from an alleged staged burglary, but legal experts say the couple could be at risk of deportation.

According to The Sun U.S., deportations usually quickly follow an arrest.

“They have no ICE detainers against them as of now, and these days ICE is very proactive in beginning proceedings swiftly after an arrest,” an insider told the outlet.

“Generally, what happens is the individual goes to trial, they get a sentence – assuming they’re found guilty, they’re sent to serve their sentence, and then upon their serving their sentence, ICE picks them up,” they continued.

Wendy and Eddie are naturalized citizens, but both were born in Nigeria.

The Osefos are allegedly accused of making false and misleading claims after an April 2024 burglary at their family home, claims they deny. After returning from their vacation in Jamaica, they discovered that their home had been burgled. In their insurance claims to three separate insurance companies, the Osefos allegedly reported 80 luxury items stolen.

“During the investigation, detectives found that over $20,000 of the items reported stolen had been returned by the owners to the locations the items were purchased. Further, detectives found images of a homeowner wearing jewelry that had been reported stolen after the burglary took place,” the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office alleged.

Wendy is claiming that she is the victim of an “illegal” arrest. She is fighting to have her 16 charges dismissed.
