Yesterday was the official red carpet for the remake of The Color Purple – a 1985 American epic coming-of-age period drama film directed by Steven Spielberg and written by Menno Meyjes, based on the Pulitzer Prize–winning 1982 novel of the same name by Alice Walker.
The movie holds a special place in the hearts of Black people, and so the remake had to be done with care.
Media take Out was invited to the premiere, where we got to see it, and it was magnificent. Don’t get us wrong, NOTHING can top the original …. but this gave the characters new life, for a new generation of viewers.
But just as interesting as th movie, was th red carpet – where celebrities were encouraged to wear purple. And we were STUNNED by how amazing everyone looked.
