Colin Kaepernick has not given up on his dream to return to the NFL and according to his longtime partner, Nessa Diab, he is training every day in the hopes of making it back to the league.
“All day, every day,” Nessa Diab told TMZ of the athlete’s training. “Nothing has changed. Nothing.”
Kaepernick was blackballed from the league after he took a knee during the national anthem in 2016 to protest police brutality and systemic racism.
“I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses Black people and people of color,” he said at the time.
After opting out of his contract with the San Francisco 49ers in 2017, Kaepernick remained unsigned by any NFL team. In 2019, he and former teammate Eric Reid settled a collusion grievance with the NFL where they settled for an undisclosed amount, although the amount was rumored to be approximately $10 million.
