Colin Kaepernick says even though it’s been years since he was blackballed from the NFL, he’s still hoping to get back into the league.
“We’re still training, still pushing,” said Kaepernick to Sky Sports. “So hopefully, we’ve just got to get one of these team owners to open up.”
He added, “I mean, it’s something I’ve trained my whole life for. So to be able to step back on the field, I think that would be a major moment, a major accomplishment for me. Also, I think it’s something that I could bring a lot to a team and help them win a championship.”
In 2022, Raiders owner Mark Davis gave Kaepernick a workout but did not recruit the former star. He has not played in the NFL since January 1 2017.
“I’m going to keep pushing,” Kaepernick said last year. “I’m going to keep fighting for it because I know I can step on the field and play. Every workout, every opportunity I’ve had to show that, the feedback has always been positive. Everything from, ‘he’s still an elite player,’ to ‘the workout was great; it was better than expected.’”
