Just days after Coi Leray publicly slammed her record label for trying to control her life and her career, she revealed she is now officially an independent artist.
“I’m officially an INDEPENDENT ARTIST! Time for new music. Shout out to the CoiPond [kiss emoji] couldn’t do it without you! I’m so fking happy!” she wrote before thanking her attorney.
Last month, the “TWINNEM” rapper shared a screenshot of a man called Billy Jones, who owned 1801 Records with Karriem “K-Mack” Mack.
Coi accused Jones of trying to take over her life and ruin her career and said she had been building her career for the past five years, but he was determined to ruin what she had built, and she begged him to leave her alone. At the time, she said she would not be releasing any new music until she had been let go.
1801 Records has not issued a statement responding to Coi Leray’s allegations.
