The Cobb County Sheriff’s Department responded to claims that Young Thug is being held in ‘inhumane and torturous conditions.’
“This is a jail, it is a detention center,” an official told WSBTV. “It’s not the Ritz Carlton, so you have to recognize that.”
“The purpose of today is to let the community know that we’re not doing anything that we don’t want them to see,” Col. Temetris Atkins said. “We run an above-board jail and we want anybody and everybody to know that.”
Thugger’s attorney Brian Steel says his client is in “dungeon-like” conditions in solitary confinement in a “windowless cement compartment with only a bed and a toilet and an overhead light which remains on 24 hours per day.”
Steel also claims that his client has “no opportunity to exercise, shower or have human contact.”
Thug was arrested for allegedly violating Georgia’s Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) statute. Gunna and 26 other associates were also indicted. Thug denies the allegations.
