Claressa Shields says she is ready to deal with a blended family with Papoose, even after nearly two years of public drama involving his estranged wife, Remy Ma.
The boxing champion opened up on Angela Yee’s Lip Service podcast about what life could eventually look like with Papoose and his children, saying she refuses to force anything.
“I’m not gonna try to force nothing,” Shields said. “Like I said, it’s a whole little court going on they have to get that finished and I don’t know how that would be after, but I’m not gonna worry myself with that.”
Shields and Papoose have said they met at a boxing event in Newark, New Jersey, in July 2024 and later began dating privately. Their romance exploded into public view that December when Remy shared alleged messages between the pair as her marriage to Papoose unraveled. Shields and Remy subsequently traded accusations and insults online, while Papoose accused Remy of infidelity and the estranged couple dropped diss tracks aimed at each other.
The couple’s divorce proceedings have remained ongoing. Papoose is reportedly demanding half of Remy’s assets, which she is refusing to give up.
Despite that rocky history, Shields said she trusts Papoose where his children are concerned.
“I know that he will always be an excellent father to his kids and that’s what he’s gon’ do,” she said.

“Blended family […] however it comes, it get dealt with,” she said. “Hey, I’m not gonna stress myself about it.”
