Claressa Shields Shades Laila Ali’s Boxing Legacy

Tiffany Brockworth |

Claressa Shields is still throwing shade at retired boxing champion Laila Ali…this time, she is trying to discredit Ali’s entire boxing career.

“I’m gonna take the high road like Terence Crawford and say she was the best in her er. Actually, I’m not gonna lie. [Ann Wolfe] was the best in her era, and I’m the best in this era. Laila Ali is just Muhammad Ali’s daughter,” she said on Gillie Da Kid and Wallo’s Million Dollaz Worth Of Game podcast.

Gillie and Wallo pushed back on Shields’ claims.

“Nah, come on, we ain’t gonna do that,” said Gillie.

Wallo then chimed in, adding, “She was in there fighting.”

“She can’t rumble like Ann Wolfe. I said, ‘Who is the best from the era.’ Ann Wolfe would’ve knocked Laila Ali out,” said Shields, adding that she would have knocked Ali out.

“I don’t think it would be as competitive as everybody thinks,” she added. “I think she’s a big woman. She got big hands, big feet, big head, but as far as in boxing skills, my boxing skills are way better than hers.”

Shields raised $15 million to lure Ali out of retirement for a fight, but Ali declined.
