Chris Sails allegedly sent first responders scrambling to find his children before police learned the kids were never in danger.
The YouTuber was arrested on August 17 after authorities alleged that he falsely claimed his children had fallen into a body of water behind his Texas home, according to court documents obtained by TMZ.
The unusual encounter began a day earlier when the Waller County Sheriff’s Office received a report about someone running through the area and jumping onto residents’ cars.
When an officer arrived, Sails was allegedly sitting in the roadway near a light pole and appeared to be praying. Court documents say he later began rolling around in the street.

Police said Sails then told them his children had fallen into nearby water. Authorities responded with rescue boats, fire department vehicles, sonar equipment and drones as they searched for the children.
Officers later learned the kids were safe with relatives, ending the operation.
Sails was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of “knowingly making a false statement to law enforcement” and released August 18 after posting bond.
The social media personality has faced legal trouble before. Houston police arrested him in 2018 after actress Parker McKenna Posey accused him of assaulting her. In 2020, Sails was also arrested on an aggravated assault charge.
Sails rose to prominence on YouTube, where he currently has close to 3 million subscribers.
