A man has been arrested after an alleged shooting near Chris Brown’s Los Angeles home, authorities confirmed.
According to police, officers responded around 4 p.m. on May 1 to a report of a shooting in the area. A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department said the suspect used a CO2-style handgun, which is classified differently from a traditional firearm.
The individual, identified as Markeith Cungious, was taken into custody and later charged with assault with a deadly weapon other than a firearm. He was booked at the Van Nuys station later that evening and released on bond the following day.
“At this time, it is unknown who the suspect was working for, and we are unable to confirm any employment or assignment details related to the individual,” an LAPD spokesperson said.

Reports indicate the incident may have stemmed from a dispute involving a woman. The suspect allegedly told officers that an argument had escalated after she refused to leave the area and drove over his foot, prompting him to fire at her vehicle.
Chris Brown addressed the situation on social media after news of the incident surfaced.
“AT THIS POINT THIS PATTERN IS OLD,” he wrote. “I’m looking at the news like the rest of yall wondering when and where the hell this happened.” He added, “I been in my crib this whole time. Ain’t heard a gunshot, police car, or anything.”
“DONT ATTACH MY NAME TO NONE OF THE BULLS–T. I got sh-t to do!” he continued.
