Chris Brown could face another legal headache after his former housekeeper asked a court to issue a warrant for his arrest over an unpaid $9 million judgment stemming from a brutal dog attack.
Maria Avila claims the Grammy-winning singer has failed to cooperate with efforts to determine how he can satisfy the multimillion-dollar award, according to court documents.
Avila alleges that Brown has not provided dates when he can appear in court to allow an examination of his financial records, assets, and income and questions whether the singer’s disclosures tell the full story about his earnings.
According to her filing, the disclosures “calls into question the accuracy and completeness of [Chris’] disclosure with respect to payment sources associated with his ongoing tour.”
Avila brought the lawsuit against Brown after an alleged dog attack at his Los Angeles property in 2020. Avila claims she was taking out the trash when a dog on the property attacked her, leaving her with injuries.
Following a jury trial, she was initially awarded $13 million. The court subsequently reduced the judgment to $9 million, which she agreed to accept, but she is yet to receive the settlement.
