Cher allegedly stopped financially supporting her son, Elijah Blue Allman, nearly five years ago, according to new court filings tied to his divorce proceedings.
In documents filed May 5 in Los Angeles Superior Court, Elijah requested a reduction in the spousal support payments he currently makes to his estranged wife, Marieangela King.
Elijah, 49, claimed he no longer receives “recurring gift income” from his mother and now relies on “only $10,000 per month from his father’s trust.” According to the filing, Cher allegedly stopped sending him money in August 2021.
Court documents state that Elijah’s monthly income after taxes totals $ 6,790, and that he is currently required to pay King $6,500 per month in support, although his attorneys are asking the court to reduce the amount to $1,651 per month.
Elijah also claimed King “has made no efforts to become self-supporting” since the couple separated in 2021.
Last month, the singer’s renewed conservatorship request was denied without prejudice after she cited concerns over Elijah’s mental health and addiction issues. During the hearing, Elijah reportedly appeared remotely from a psychiatric hospital in connection with ongoing criminal cases in New Hampshire.
The next hearing in the divorce case is scheduled for July 17.
