Charles Barkley Reveals Why He Turned Down Taylor Swift’s Wedding Invite!

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce invited Charles Barkley to their wedding, but the basketball icon decided one celebrity-packed night was not worth giving up his golf shoes.

Barkley confirmed that he politely rejected a spot at the couple’s July 3 nuptials at Madison Square Garden while speaking on 97.5 The Fanatic’s Unfiltered with Ricky Bo and Bill Colarulo.

“I don’t go to weddings or funerals,” the Inside the NBA personality said.

Barkley explained that his decision was not personal. He has known Travis and his brother, Jason Kelce, and said that meeting Swift had left such an impression that receiving the invitation felt meaningful.

“I love Travis and Jason, and I’ve only met Taylor one time,” he said. “But yeah, I did get an invite.”

The Hall of Famer admitted the size and attention surrounding the ceremony helped make up his mind.

“I politely declined because I thought it was going to be a crap show,” Barkley explained. “I just want to hang out and play golf, and I don’t want to dress up and all that other stuff.” He added, “But I appreciate the invitation; it was pretty special.”

Barkley’s absence stood out only because so many familiar sports personalities attended. Tom Brady, Michael Strahan, Erin Andrews, Rob Gronkowski, Stephen A. Smith, Pat McAfee and Joe Buck were among the reported guests.

Strahan later described the celebration as Swift and Kelce’s “dream wedding” and said it “really was amazing.”

Barkley’s admission may be jarring to Hollywood actress, a former best friend of Swift’s, Blake Lively, who did not receive an invite to the event.
