Carlos King is shutting down an old Real Housewives of Atlanta rumor again, saying he spoke publicly because people began to believe he started the false drug allegation about Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker.
“For the sake of my reputation in the business, I had to say something about it,” the former Bravo producer said on the After the Edit podcast.
“It was a thing because that’s when social media started to percolate,” he explained, adding that “a lot of people took it as fact.”
The rumor became tied to one of RHOA’s most controversial storylines. Phaedra Parks eventually admitted she had spread a false allegation that Kandi and Todd intended to drug Porsha Williams and sexually take advantage of her.

Carlos denied making the claim and said Andy Cohen reached out to him as the backlash unfolded.
He praised Andy for “giving me some great advice” and said he appreciated the network for addressing the matter.
“I had to make sure that … I was protecting myself in the process,” King went on. “I have no regrets doing that.”
Kandi previously said the false accusation continued affecting her even after the truth came out, writing in 2017 that she was “still dealing with trolls” who repeated it. Following her exit from the show, Phaedra has returned but the pair will likely never be friends again. During her time on the show, Kandi vowed to leave if Phaedra was ever allowed back.
