Carlee Russell was arrested yesterday after she turned herself in to the Hoover City Jail,. The beautiful liar was arrested on Class A misdemeanors for false reporting to law enforcement authorities and falsely reporting an incident, Media Take Out confirmed.
Russell was released from jail after posting $2,000 bond on Friday afternoon.
Hoover Police Chief Nick Derzis said he was only able to charge Carlee with 2 misdemeanors but that he will speak to state legislators about more serious laws for people like Carlee who make false allegations about kidnapping.
But even those two misdemeanors may not get Carlee in any real trouble. Media Take Out learned that Carlee’s family is saying that the beautiful nurse had a “mental health episode”, which caused her to make up the events.
And that – if the prosecutors plan on taking the case to trail – Carlee may plead insanity.
The insanity defense refers to a defense that a defendant can plead in a criminal trial. In an insanity defense, the defendant admits the action but asserts a lack of culpability based on mental illness.
