Carla Jeffery’s family is denying reports that drugs played a role in the Disney Channel star’s death, pushing back against online rumors as questions remain about what happened.
“She did not do drugs,” her family told TMZ after Jeffery died at her California home on September 1 at age 33.
Carla’s family also revealed that there was no foul play and that police are not involved. An official cause of death has not yet been released.
Jeffery had previously spoken about living with epilepsy, according to the Cameron Boyce Foundation, though it is unclear whether the condition had any connection to her death.
Her management company, Alexanders Talent, remembered her as “a beautiful, vibrant and incredibly talented woman” whose “radiant smile could light up any room.”
“Carla was more than a client; she was family,” the company said in a statement.
Her brother, Carlon Jeffery, also shared what appeared to be one of his final messages to his sister.
“I just want you to know how proud I am of you,” he wrote. “You are the best sister a brother could ask for.”
Jeffery’s credits included ZOMBIES, iCarly, Good Luck Charlie, Shake It Up and Curb Your Enthusiasm.
