Cardi B‘s longtime and closest friend Star Brim was been sentenced to one year and one day in prison after pleading guilty to one count of conspiracy to maiming and assault in aid of racketeering, Media Take Out has learned.
Star Brim, real name Yvonne Respass, was charged in a a case that began when she was caught up in a 2020 federal sweep of the New York Bloods Gang subset, 5-9 Brims.
Star Brim was one of the 18 members charged with various racketeering, narcotics, and firearms offenses, including murder and attempted murder.
According to prosecutors, Star From – as a gang leader – carried out violence to help fellow gang associate Cardi B. The violence was directed against two sisters working as bartenders at the Queens strip club Angel’s back in August of 2018. One of the girls was sleeping with Cardi’s husband Offset.
It was first reported Cardi herself ordered the attack on the two bartenders, now identified as Rachel and Sarah Wattley, but court documents reveal it was Star who allegedly called the hit while doing prison time in Connecticut that same year.
Star was charged with racketeering and for the ordering of subordinates to “pop that bottle” on one of the women.
So how did she get off with such little time? Well it’s not clear, Cardi hired the best lawyers for her friend, who now says that she’s no longer affiliated with the gang.
Media Take Out searched through the paperwork and found no details suggested that she snitched on any of her fellow associates.
