Cardi B Responds After Latto Calls Her Out on New Song: I Didn’t Mean Any Harm!

Latto opened up about why Cardi B’s name ended up in the conversation around her new song “Gimmie Dat,” telling The Breakfast Club that the record was all down to a leaked 2025 call that left her hurt.

According to Latto, Cardi apologized publicly after the call went viral, but the private apology she wanted did not come until months later.

“I was at an early stage in my pregnancy,” Latto said. “I rushed to the studio to do a verse for [‘ErrTime (Remix)’] and literally like two days later, I see all over the internet that I’m being called p—y.”

Latto’s “Gimmie Dat,” which appears on her Big Mama album, includes lyrics that seem to reject both the insult and a later attempt to make peace with a luxury gift.

“B—h said what? Let’s clock it/ Really got a Hermès store in my closet,” she raps. “Talkin’ ’bout buyin’ big mama a bag like my n—a ain’t already bought it/ Like my n—a ain’t comin’ off racks.”

Cardi answered Friday on X, saying she did not intend to wound Latto and that her public apology matched the public nature of the leaked insult.

“I truly understand how you feel…and that’s exactly why I chose to apologize publicly because the disrespect became public,” Cardi wrote. “On that call I didn’t even mean to call you that, I didn’t mean any harm.”

“I genuinely felt bad about what happened,” she continued.

The Bronx rapper also said she tried more than once to handle the matter privately.

“In 2025 and 2026 I made multiple attempts to connect,” Cardi wrote, adding that she reached out through Latto’s manager and sister and texted Latto directly. “I always wanted to make it right but making it right looks different for the both of us.”
