More than four years after Cardi B made headlines for throwing a microphone into a crowd during a Las Vegas performance, the civil lawsuit tied to the incident is officially moving toward trial.
Court records show the case is currently scheduled for a jury trial beginning in October 2027, and the proceedings are expected to last about two weeks, although scheduling could still change.
The lawsuit was filed by a woman identified as Jane Doe, who claims she was struck by the microphone during Cardi’s July 2023 nightclub performance in Las Vegas. Cardi was sued for assault, battery, and negligence.

The incident quickly went viral online after videos surfaced showing Cardi reacting to a drink being thrown in her direction while she was onstage. According to the complaint, Doe alleges she acted after the rapper invited fans to splash water on her during the performance to help cool her down.
Criminal charges were never filed in the case and prosecutors previously announced they would not move forward due to insufficient evidence.
In a widely shared video posted after the incident, Cardi addressed the moment directly, saying, “I said splash my p—y, not my face.”
If no settlement is reached before 2027, the case will ultimately be decided by a jury.
