Cardi B Defends Vybz Kartel Over Online Troll Jokes

Cardi B defended dancehall star Vybz Kartel against attacks on his appearance since his release from prison.

Kartel, real name Adidja Azim Palmer, was arrested in 2011 for the murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams. Williams was ordered to visit Kartel at his home in Kingston after failing to return two firearms to him. Williams’ home was burned down just two days later, and Williams was never seen again.

Lamar Chow, who was also summoned to the home, was beaten but survived the attack and testified against Kartel. His codefendants, co-accused Shawn Campbell, Kahira Jones, and Andre St John, were convicted and jailed for life.

Kartel has put on a significant amount of weight, and his eyes are bulging ( a symptom of Graves Disease.)

But it’s his much lighter skin that fans have noticed. Even though the disease can cause lighter skin, fans speculate Kartel has been using bleaching products.

“I do not play about f-cking Vybz Kartel. When I see y’all f-cking Americans. No offense, no offense. I mean, I’m American, but when I see y’all talking about f-cking Vybz Kartel, I be getting upset ’cause, like, not too much,” she said on X Spaces. “Not too f-cking much. Mind your f-cking business. I do not play about f-cking Vybz Kartel, b-tch. At all. At all. I do not, I do not, I do not.”

Kartel has been open about bleaching his skin in the past.

“This is my new image,” Kartel once said while endorsing his own brand of skin lightening soap. “You can expect the unexpected. I feel comfortable with Black people lightening their skin.”
