In the height of his beef with LL Cool J, Canibus released “Second Round K.O” in 1998…but the song had one line that made everybody do a double take.
“Well, lemme tell you somethin’, you might got more cash than me/ But you ain’t got the skills to eat a n-gga’s ass like me!” he rapped.
In an interview, Canibus cleared up the lyrics…letting folks know it was not a suspect line.
“Hey, that’s not what it meant back then. That’s how old we are. What it is now is you see that type of stuff in the comments section on a website and you can’t do anything about it. I look at it and I’m like, ‘Why did I say that?’ because of how it is. But I know why I said it back then. The comment section is just…yellow tape,” he said.
Their beef began during the recording of the song “4,3,2,1,” from LL Cool J’s Phenomenon album. In the song, Canibus asked to borrow the mic from his arm and LL took it as a diss.
