The long-running tension between Candiace Dillard Bassett and Monique Samuels may be one of The Real Housewives of Potomac’s most talked-about chapters, but Candiace says she isn’t paying much attention to Monique’s surprise return to the show.
Candiace, who is currently competing on season 4 of The Traitors, addressed the situation during a fan Q&A on the Feb. 2 episode of Watch What Happens Live. When asked how she felt about castmates welcoming Monique back so warmly, Candiace appeared unfazed.
“I wasn’t aware,” she said. “I know she’s back, but I don’t know. I’m not watching.”
Monique rejoined the franchise in a part-time role for season 10 after leaving the series following her explosive season 5 altercation with Candiace. This time around, several former critics, including Wendy Osefo, have embraced her return.
Monique previously shared her own perspective on whether reconciliation with Candiace was ever necessary. During a December 2025 appearance on Watch What Happens Live, she said, “There was no relationship, and sometimes, moving on doesn’t mean that you have to reconcile.”
She added, “You see people for who they are, you set your boundaries, and it’s okay to not rekindle something that isn’t meant to be rekindled.”
