Britney Spears is apologizing to her sons for what she calls her “mistakes in the past,” admitting a recent conversation left her questioning herself as a mother.
In a new social media post, Spears reflected on Sean Preston and Jayden, now adults, while also revisiting painful memories involving her parents, Lynne and Jamie Spears.
Spears said she was hurt after learning years ago that her sons had been taken on outings without her.
“I wondered why I wasn’t a part of their cool secret outings,” she wrote, claiming she “went to my knees and cried for two months.”
More recently, Spears said one of her sons told her “he didn’t personally believe in God.” The singer, who said she prays “every day of my f—ing life,” admitted the conversation shook her.

“In that moment I believed I had failed as a mother,” Spears wrote. “I wanna to tell my kids and people in general that I’m sorry for my mistakes in the past.”
Spears also reflected on growing up in the spotlight, saying she lost pieces of herself while moving from The Mickey Mouse Club to global pop fame.
“I never got to be me, the real Spears,” she wrote.
Spears said she misses the person she once was.
“I miss the excitement in my eyes being alive when I was younger,” she shared, adding that she knows she will “never get those years back.”
