Britney Spears’ father, Jamie Spears, has reportedly had to have his leg amputated following a series of health complications.
According to The Mirror, Jamie was admitted to hospital in October after falling ill with a “bad infection” and was told he would have to have surgery.
After the “massive infection” could not be fixed with as many as five surgeries, doctors then made the decision to remove the leg.
“Jamie had a massive infection in one of his legs that landed him in a hospital for weeks. He had five unsuccessful surgeries to contain the infection, and doctors decided the only way to proceed was amputation,” said the source.
TMZ spoke to a source close to Jamie who said he “is not doing well”. They added: “He’s had other ailments and has been downcast amid the torrent of criticism over his handling of the conservatorship.”
Britney has reportedly “softened” towards her dad since his health issues and some believe they will reconcile.
