Britney Spears says the viral images of her leaning through a car’s sunroof captured only “two seconds” of her life.
The singer, 44, spoke out Saturday after photos from three days earlier showed her upper body outside a black Mercedes SUV as it traveled along Los Angeles’ 101 Freeway near Studio City.
“What people see is two seconds of insanity of me arching me to the lords !!!!! yet the days and hours of my reality !!!!!! Nothing is what it seems,” Spears wrote on Instagram beside an image from the incident.
She ended the message with a playful response to the attention: “Psss I think I need to come out of the roof quite a bit more.”

Images published by the Daily Mail and Page Six showed the “Toxic” singer stretching her arms across the vehicle’s roof and tilting her head back as traffic moved around her. The SUV was reportedly traveling at approximately 45 mph.
Witnesses told the outlets that Spears stayed partially outside the sunroof for around two minutes. The SUV, driven by an unidentified man in a cowboy hat and sunglasses, later exited the freeway. One source told the Daily Mail that Spears was trying to look ahead after traffic came to a stop.
“She wanted to see what the traffic was about up ahead because the cars came to a stop,” the source said.
Spears and the driver were later photographed at a gas station after reportedly traveling from her home in Thousand Oaks.
