Tim Westwood could face criminal charges after several women stepped forward two years ago and accused him of sexual misconduct.
According to recent reports, officers have “submitted the case to the Crown Prosecution Service” (CPS) for further investigation.
“A file of evidence has now been submitted to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) and our team continues to make inquiries, with support from prosecutors,” Andy Furphy, Lead investigator Det. Supt said in a statement. “We will thoroughly and properly investigate sexual offenses as part of our commitment to making London safer for women and girls.”
At least seven women allege Westwood assaulted them between 1982 and 2016.
“Tim Westwood strongly denies all allegations of inappropriate behavior,” Westwood’s legal representative said in a statement at the time. “In a career that has spanned 40 years, there have never been any complaints made against him officially or unofficially. Tim Westwood strongly rejects all allegations of wrongdoing.”
