Hayden Panettiere’s mother says she was stunned to learn Brian Hickerson had allegedly pawned some of her daughter’s belongings before the actress died.
Lesley Vogel told the New York Times that she visited Panettiere in Los Angeles last year while the “Nashville” star was dealing with serious physical pain. During that visit, Vogel said she discovered that Hickerson had pawned items belonging to Panettiere, including a vintage guitar.
Vogel also claimed Panettiere was shocked to learn that some of her possessions were in Hickerson’s storage unit. A separate source told the newspaper that Hickerson had pawned some of Panettiere’s belongings.
Hickerson’s attorney, Sloan Ellis, did not respond directly to Vogel’s allegations, instead standing by a previous statement about Panettiere’s death.
“Hayden’s death remains under investigation and it is important to allow that investigation to proceed,” said Ellis. “As has been publicly reported, police confirmed there were no signs of foul play.”
Panettiere died on August 16 at age 36 after being found unresponsive at a residence in Greenville, S.C. Her cause and manner of death remain pending.
Hickerson was present at the home at the time. His brother, Zach Hickerson, has said Brian gave Panettiere Narcan and performed CPR after finding her unconscious.
“There are a lot of assumptions, speculations and accusations currently swirling,” Zach told TMZ.
