Brad Pitt’s Daughter Zahara Files to Drop His Last Name!

Zahara Jolie is asking a California court to drop “Pitt” from her legal name.

The 21-year-old daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt filed a petition for a name change in the Superior Court of California on April 28, shortly after her older brother Maddox, 24, also filed to remove Pitt from his last name.

Zahara has already been using Zahara Marley Jolie publicly, including her recent graduation from Spelman College.

At the May 17 ceremony in Atlanta, her printed program listed her as “Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt,” but when she crossed the stage to receive her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, her name was announced as “Zahara Marley Jolie.”

Months earlier, Zahara used the same name while introducing herself in an August 2024 video shared by Essence during her Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. induction.

“My name is Zahara Marley Jolie. And [I] landed all the way from the Golden State in the city full of angels: Los Angeles, California,” she said.

Zahara is now the third of Jolie and Pitt’s children to drop the Pitt name, following Maddox and Shiloh legally. Shiloh was granted her name change in 2024 and now goes by Shiloh Jolie. Jolie, 51, and Pitt, 62, also share Pax, 22, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 17. The former couple separated in 2016 after two years of marriage and more than 10 years together. Their divorce was finalized in December 2024.

A source close to Pitt told PEOPLE, “It’s sad to see someone repeatedly publicize their successful alienation of their children from the other parent.”
